A Baltic Heartbeat: Music of Latvia
The Burlington Choral Society presents music that celebrates classical and folk traditions. The concert features the 1943 cantata "God, Thy Earth Is Aflame!," which premiered with the sound of bombs in the distance. Other pieces will include "Stars" by the exciting contemporary composer Ēriks Ešenvalds and songs that thousands perform at Latvian song festivals.
Richard Riley, artistic director, will lead the chorus as they sing in Latvian, Latin and English. The BCS invites you to discover the power and passion of a rich musical heritage. With Joshua Collier, tenor; Erik Kroncke, bass; Lynnette Combs, organ; and Claire Black, piano.
